This answer is specifically for the Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU (2011-2018).

If the OEM fastener is missing from the middle dash recess it is often because someone has done work inside the dash or replaced the radio head unit. Perhaps an aftermarket tech has not reinstalled or maybe in fitting an aftermarket radio they took out the bracket that accepts the OEM fastener.

Here is what you can do:

  1. Go to your local Mopar/Jeep dealer and explain you want one of the 4 OEM fasteners that hold on that dash section.
  2. They will not have a part number come up in the Mopar system, but they do carry these in the service department in floor issue bins. Ask the person at the parts counter if they would not mind asking a service tech for a fastener. A dealership will sometimes provide that at no charge or maybe charge a few cents.

If you get the OEM fastener and when you install it it just spins and does not 'bite' on any hardware below the dash, the bracket may have been removed to fit a non OEM radio. At that stage you can still install the JK Mount™ base, but you will need to use a nut and bolt from a hardware store. Removing the dash is a simple process and you can see that in the video on this page
