Apple MagSafe

It's almost certainly your power source.
Apple's really smart about protecting their devices, so their chargers are pretty picky about what they'll work with. Any Apple-certified 12V car charger will do the trick normally.
We've had positive results with the Anker 535 Car Charger (67W) - it's been a real workhorse for us! Not a recommendation per se, but a suggestion for sure.
We use them in our vehicles to power Apple MagSafe Chargers, and they've got both USB-C and USB-A ports which is super convenient. In all our time using them, we've only had one stop working, and that was when the entire unit failed (not just the Apple charging connection).
Here's a bonus our team really loves: unlike the built-in USB-C ports in most news cars, these Anker chargers don't connect to the car's entertainment system or CarPlay. This is especially awesome when you're in a rental car and just want to charge your phone without all the digital clutter or accidentally sending data on that rental!
Just to be clear, we don't have any business relationship with Anker - we just genuinely like them based on our experience. Compared to those cheap chargers you find all over Amazon or at gas stations or truck stops, the Anker units actually play nice with Apple's protective circuits. Those bargain-bin chargers often get rejected and may not charge the Apple Wirless Charger because their voltage and wattage are all over the map, which is actually Apple looking out for your device!
